Cool Solar to conduct Solar PV Rooftop Panel Installation during Boulder Solar Home Tour: Sunday, September 30th
Boulder-based solar power system installer to provide on-site demonstration of solar system installation procedure
Boulder, Colorado - September 21, 2007 - Cool Solar Incorporated, a Boulder-based solar equipment installation company, has announced that it will be performing a live installation of a solar photovoltaic (PV) electric power system on the rooftop of a home in North Boulder. The residence will be included in the Boulder Tour of Solar and Green Built Homes on Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30th, as part of the Boulder Solar Week activities beginning Sunday, September 23rd and continuing through the date of the Home Tour. The installation will take place at the Kessler-Roth residence at 1947 Oak Avenue between 10am and 3pm on each day.
Registration for the event can be found on the Center for ReSource Conservation website at www.conservationcenter.org, or by visiting the CRC offices on the day of the events from 9am to 1pm at 1702 Walnut Street in Boulder. Participants can visit any of the homes listed on the Home Tour map from 10am to 4pm that day.
Participants will witness a demonstration of the installation of PV panels having a capacity of 2.4kW of electrical power, which will provide enough electricity to meet the needs of this modest size North Boulder home. The house has a passive solar design to provide a portion of its space heating, and an existing set of active solar thermal collectors for meeting its water and space heating needs. In addition to installing PV panels on the rooftop, the required electrical interconnection equipment will be demonstrated. This electrical equipment allows the user to draw power from the utility when the sun is not shining, and to provide electricity back to the utility when it is not needed in the home.
